We have developed a number of short courses to help individuals be better at sport and exercise and be better at managing sport.

STRIDE learn to Run

STRIDE is a six stage, learn to run system targeted towards children and coaches for any sport or activity that involves running.  STRIDE is a structured system to help improve running form and technique so people can participate and enjoy any activity that involves running. The program will also provide tools and techniques to assist build strength to assist with injury prevention. The course was written and developed by Peter Annis-Brown, a running technique specialist and accredited athletics coach with a lifetime involvement in sport and exercise. STRIDE stands for Speed, Timing, Right angle, Ideal posture, Direction and Exercise everything.

Upon successful completion, course participants will:

– Understand the fundamentals of correct running technique and introduce a structured progression of each exercise safely.
– Have a good understanding of the different methods/ techniques to improve both speed and efficient movement.
– Review common technique problems with running and be able to trouble shoot or correct them when required.
– Be able to determine when a participant has a running style that could lead to potential injuries.

BOUNCEuP A Sport Approach to Resilience

To get fitter or better at sport and exercise you have to train and practice. We have taken this proactive and preventative approach in developing this online course and will use some sport/exercise terms and examples to help people learn and digest the information provided.

What you will Learn

The course learning objectives are broken down into seven (7) sections:

Nutrition for the Young Athlete

An introductory course designed to provide you with a general overview of sports nutrition to give you a solid foundation as you progress into higher levels of sport.

 

What you will learn!

To make it easy we have divided the course into 3 main streams;

– Introduction to Healthy Eating and why we eat
– What provides us with energy to Fuel our Body
– Recovery after training, competition or a game
We have put together a range of written, interactive and video content to keep you engaged and to get the most out of doing this course.

At the end you can download a completion certificate. You can then use this certificate as part of your ongoing education portfolio.

Social Media Use for Young Athletes

A short practical and interactive course on the best ways to use and not to use Social Media!

What you will learn!

To make it easy we have divided the course into 4 main streams;

Behaviour for Young Athletes (Ethics and Integrity)

An introductory course designed to provide you with a general overview of acceptable behaviour to give you a solid foundation as you progress into higher levels of sport and life.

What you will learn!

We introduce you to integrity and how it applies to sport and provide you with a framework for you to build and develop your own personal integrity and code of conduct. 

Unfortunately sport has a history of activities and behaviour that lack integrity, we discuss these and point out how you can learn to make good and honest decisions now that will stay with you throughout your sporting and life careers.

Budgeting Basics for the Budding Athlete

A short Introduction to the basics of money and importance of being financially fit!

What you will learn!

This course will look at the finance basics of what bank account should you choose. What goes in a budget and how to put one together. The importance of setting savings goals and benefits of becoming financially aware and fit at a young age.

MENTAL HEALTH

1st Aid Courses

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. First aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

The course is based on the international MHFA Guidelines. These guidelines were developed using consensus of mental health consumers, carers and professionals from english-speaking developed countries.

Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective. The course consists of a combination of theory and practical scenarios and can be delivered 12 hours face to face or via a blended course of online self paced and then a 4 hour face to face workshop. 

Participants who complete this training are eligible to complete an online Accreditation Assessment in order to receive a Mental Health First Aider Certificate of Accreditation valid for 3 years.
