IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

ManageSport was recently successful in receiving a seed funding grant from ClubsNSW to develop and run school based workshops on developing personal resilience and integrity. The program is called BOUNCEuP- A sport approach to Resilience and we have developed a face to face interactive education workshop followed up by an online program guide with a particular focus on year 11 students in readiness for year 12 and beyond.

The Free face to face workshops will be held throughout NSW and we have taken a holistic and proactive approach in covering all aspects of resilience to help students improve their own wellbeing and achieve ongoing success and quality of life.
Just like your body, your mind can be trained and improved.

As an ongoing resource following the workshop every school will be offered  access to the online BOUNCEuP Guide.

To get fitter or better at sport and exercise you have to train and practice. We have taken this proactive and preventative approach in developing this workshop and program and will use some sport/exercise terms and examples to help students learn and digest the information provided.

The workshop learning objectives are broken down into five (5) unit topics:

Topic 1: Introduction and what is resilience?
Topic 2 : Knowing Yourself
Topic 3: Falling off your bike (Coping with difficult situations)
Topic 4: Training (Taking action to promote resilience)
Topic 5: Practice (Maintaining your resilience)

The program is in partnership with “Your local club”  and we thank and appreciate their support with this program.

Recent Testimonies

Last November, Peter Annis-Brown from ManageSport spoke to around 200 students and other guests at the Gunnedah Energy Innovation and Mining Expo (eIMex) on Personal Resilience.  Peter’s presentation really struck a chord with students, some from low socio-economic backgrounds. I observed students listening keenly when Peter spoke about social media considerations and the key personal attributes that would help students adjust to life after school, particularly in the workplace and deal with adversity. Peter’s presence and his engaging and direct manner particularly resonated with the boys in the room.

In early February 2019 Hockey NSW AAP program engaged Peter Annis-Brown from ManageSport to deliver a face to face workshop on personal resilience and Integrity to 140 of our athletes as part of their weekend camp. Our athletes took a lot from the workshop and being a selection camp they were able to immediately use some of the tools and tips given to build on their resilience and coping skills.
